A string of violent and high-profile cases has led to 15 individuals from Merseyside being jailed recently, with offences ranging from armed robbery and serious assaults to large-scale drug trafficking. Liverpool Crown Court heard of brutal street attacks, misguided revenge plots, and organised crime groups who exploited communities across the North West.

Among those locked up were Adam Wilson and David Bowen, two burglars who returned to a crime scene in search of a missed Rolex watch, only to shoot an innocent neighbour in the leg after mistaking him for the target. Both were admitted to wounding with intent and possessing a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence. Wilson received 11 years and eight months, while Bowen was sentenced to 10 years and four months. Each will serve at least two-thirds of their term before parole eligibility and remain under extended licence for four years. Lifelong restraining orders were also issued.

In a separate case, pensioner terror unfolded when Norman O’Connor and Colin Miller, along with a teenage accomplice, stormed into a 76-year-old man’s home. Threatening him with a hammer, they stole cash and his vintage Jaguar, which they later crashed during a police chase. O’Connor, who admitted multiple offences including robbery and dangerous driving, was jailed for nine years. Miller, wearing a grey Under Armour tracksuit, pleaded guilty to robbery and theft and was sentenced to eight years and one month.

Elsewhere, convicted paedophile Christopher Hind was found guilty by a jury of abusing a six-year-old boy in the late 1980s. Now aged 59, he was convicted of 17 offences, including indecent assault and attempted rape, and received a 12-year prison term.

A violent road rage incident outside a Morrisons supermarket in Ellesmere Port left a 59-year-old man with serious facial fractures. Luke Cooper, 35, had earlier nearly struck the man with his car before punching him. He admitted causing grievous bodily harm without intent and was jailed for 16 months.

Three members of a class A drugs ring operating out of a property in Merseyside were also sentenced. Police stumbled upon the group’s stash house when responding to a suspected burglary. Leroy Parris, who attempted to divert attention from his associates, received nine years for offences including drug supply and possession of illegal weapons. Raymond Escoffrey, who also escaped custody during the arrest, was jailed for eight and a half years. Absent from court, Raymond Nicholls was sentenced to eight years and eight months in his absence.

Neil Spencer, a father, launched five crossbow bolts at the home of a grandmother, with children inside, in what he claimed was retaliation over alleged bullying. One bolt was fired directly at the woman and her daughter. Spencer admitted to threats with a weapon and criminal damage, receiving 18 months in custody and an indefinite restraining order.

Meanwhile, EncroChat drug trafficker Brian Storey, who fled the U.K. on a fake passport, was finally captured after nearly two years. The 49-year-old was jailed for 12 years and seven months for importing £900,000 worth of heroin.

Three members of the so-called “Scouse Jeff” county lines gang, Hayden Brooks, Anthony Fox, and James Spindler, were sentenced for moving heroin and crack cocaine into Cheshire. The trio was jailed for a combined 11 years.

Lastly, Thomas Hooton, identified as EncroChat user “Own Raptor,” was found to be running a multi-drug supply network. Despite dozens of character references from public figures, including West Derby Member of Parliament Ian Byrne, he was jailed for 10 years and eight months.

All defendants were sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court.
