The family of Lee Claydon, a 45-year-old Oasis fan from Bournemouth, has paid heartfelt tribute to him as a “loving family man” following his tragic death after falling from a height at Wembley Stadium during the band’s concert on Saturday, August 2, 2025. The incident, which occurred at the sold-out event in London, left his loved ones devastated. The Metropolitan Police reported that a man in his 40s was found with injuries consistent with a fall and was pronounced dead at the scene, prompting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances.

Clive Claydon, Lee’s 75-year-old father, described his son as a “lovely bloke” and “hard-working family man” who was a dedicated landscape gardener and father of three. Speaking to the Bournemouth Echo, Clive expressed the family’s grief, noting that Lee “had everything going for him.” He clarified that Lee “may have had a couple of beers but had not taken any drugs,” countering harmful speculation. “People have said horrible things, but it was just an accident,” he said, raising concerns about safety measures at the venue. “All I know is there was beer everywhere, it’s slippery, he slipped, apparently. … There are questions about the barriers.”

Lee’s brother, Aaron Claydon, shared an emotional tribute on Facebook, writing, “Still in shock and cannot believe I am writing this, but sadly over the weekend I lost my best mate, the man I looked up to and the man I was lucky enough to call my brother Lee Claydon.” Aaron launched a GoFundMe page to support Lee’s partner and sons, which has raised over £7,000. Another family member, Shannon Gabrielle, posted on Facebook, “My cousin Lee tragically passed away this weekend after no doubt having the time of his life at the Oasis concert. … You just don’t fathom you will go out for a night of amazing fun & not come home at the end of it.” She highlighted the profound impact on Lee’s close-knit family.

Oasis issued a statement on Sunday, expressing they were “shocked and saddened” by the fan’s death and extending “sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.” Wembley Stadium, with a capacity of 90,000 across three tiers, released a statement affirming that it “operates to a very high health and safety standard, fully meeting legal requirements for the safety of spectators and staff.” Despite these efforts, the spokesperson noted, “the fan very sadly died,” and their thoughts are with his family, who are being supported by specially trained police officers.

The Metropolitan Police are investigating and seeking witnesses or mobile phone footage, stating, “The stadium was busy, and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage.” The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), which oversees workplace safety, has been informed. Saturday’s concert was part of Oasis’s Live ’25 reunion tour, which began in July and includes seven sold-out shows at Wembley. The band is scheduled to perform next at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium for three dates, followed by gigs in Ireland, Canada, the US, Mexico, and a return to Wembley on September 27 and 28. The tragedy has cast a shadow over the tour, with Lee’s family and community mourning a vibrant life cut short.
