Unity Across Europe Strengthens as Counter‑Globalist Movement Intensifies

A growing centrist‑right counter‑globalist coalition is gaining momentum across Europe, with conservative figures calling for greater coordination to defend national sovereignty and traditional values. The movement’s message emphasises unity in the face of expanding globalist influence, as national leaders and grassroots activists express a shared commitment to preserving cultural identity and resisting supranational control.

At a grassroots level, one French activist named Brice stated: “We must federate all conservatives across Europe. Even with different views, we stand together against the globalist agenda.” This sentiment, posted on social media by Jim Ferguson, underlines the increasingly transnational nature of the developing alliance.

Institutionally, formal alliances are taking shape. An organisation known as the Patriots . eu (Patriots for Europe), formed in mid‑2024, unites nationalist parties from several EU Member States, including Hungary’s Fidesz, Spain’s Vox, Portugal’s Chega, and Poland’s Law and Justice (PiS). Its leadership embraces a manifesto opposing excessive EU federalism, advocating for restored national control over cultural and economic policies, and resisting over‑centralisation of power in Brussels.

Further signalling the political direction, attendance at the 2024 and 2025 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) events reinforced growing ideological ties between European conservatives and American counterparts. At CPAC Hungary, speakers from Germany, Israel, and various Central European parties promoted shared principles of national sovereignty, fiscal restraint, and cultural cohesion as elements vital to confronting what organisers termed “globalist aspiration”.

During a CPAC-related international summit, former Prime Minister Liz Truss insisted that British politics requires a “Donald Trump‑style ‘MAGA’ movement” to counteract domestic liberal institutions and restore political authority to elected representatives, not unelected bureaucracies. She warned that Britain was “failing” and argued for coordinated resistance to globalist frameworks dominating UK policy debates.

Meanwhile, populist‑leaning parties across Europe are harnessing this momentum. In Poland, presidential candidate Karol Nawrocki, representing the Law and Justice‑aligned camp, addressed CPAC in Rzeszów on 27 May 2025, positioning Poland as a leader in resisting globalist influence and reinforcing transatlantic conservatism bound by shared values and national interest over EU centralisation.

Analysts note that this pan‑European alignment draws inspiration from US conservative activism but remains distinctly nationalistic. It emphasises sovereignty, traditional cultural values, and economic self-determination while firmly rejecting supranational governance structures perceived as compromising national independence. Critics argue that this loose coalition lacks a cohesive federal structure, but its influence is spreading rapidly via elected representatives and civic networks.
