A man in his 50s has died after a tractor crashed into parked vehicles following a vintage car event in Gloucestershire. The incident occurred late on 9 August 2025 in Fiddington, near Tewkesbury, shortly after the Severn Vale Vintage Club’s annual show.

According to Gloucestershire Constabulary (the territorial police force for the county), the collision took place near Monks Lane at approximately 11.25 pm. Emergency services were called to the scene after reports that a tractor had travelled through fields before striking several parked vehicles. Despite immediate first aid administered by members of the public and responding officers, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed, and the coroner has been notified.

A passenger also sustained serious injuries in the crash. Police confirmed that officers provided medical assistance until paramedics arrived. The injured individual was taken to hospital for treatment, though no further update on their condition has been released.

A man in his 20s, believed to be the driver of the tractor, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through alcohol. He remains in police custody as investigations continue.

The Severn Vale Vintage Club, which organised the event, describes the show as featuring “vehicles and machinery from yesteryear” alongside arena displays, dog classes, and traditional country games. The gathering had drawn attendees from across the county. Following the tragedy, organisers announced on their website that the event would be cancelled for its scheduled second day on 10 August 2025.

In a public statement, the club wrote: “For unforeseen circumstances, the show has had to close today, we will NOT be open Sunday, all online ticket purchases will be refunded in due course, very sorry for any inconvenience, thanks.”

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward. Officers have requested that those who saw the incident or have not yet spoken to investigators submit details through the Gloucestershire Constabulary’s online form, quoting incident number 591 of 9 August.

The incident has shocked the local community, particularly given the family-friendly nature of the annual vintage show. While authorities have not yet provided further details on how the tractor came to be involved in the fatal collision, the investigation is ongoing and is expected to include a forensic examination of the vehicle and scene, as well as witness interviews.

The Severn Vale Vintage Club has not commented further beyond its initial statement, but local residents have expressed condolences to the victim’s family and those injured. Police have stated they will release more information as it becomes available, and the area remains a focus for accident investigators.

This fatal incident serves as a sobering reminder of the potential dangers posed when vehicles are operated in an unsafe manner, even in seemingly low-risk environments such as community events.
