Major India-Russia Defense Deal Signed Amid Continued Global Tensions

In a historic development on February 6, 2025, India and Russia finalized their largest defense agreement since the onset of the Ukraine conflict, signaling a renewed commitment to military cooperation between the two nations. 

The deal, which encompasses a wide range of advanced military technologies and joint manufacturing initiatives, is expected to bolster India’s defense capabilities significantly while reinforcing Russia’s status as a key defense partner.

Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu attended the signing ceremony, which took place in New Delhi. Singh remarked, “This agreement marks a pivotal moment in our defense relations and is a testament to our enduring partnership.”

The deal reportedly includes the transfer of critical technologies related to missile systems, naval assets, and advanced aircraft.
