UK, France, Canada Threaten Action Over Gaza Offensive

The United Kingdom, France, and Canada have issued a joint warning to Israel, threatening “concrete actions” if it does not halt its military offensive in Gaza and ease restrictions on humanitarian aid. In a strongly worded statement on May 19, 2025, the three nations condemned Israel’s operations as disproportionate and accused the government of violating international humanitarian law. The criticism also targeted Israel’s declared intention to “conquer and hold” Gaza, which the Western leaders called unacceptable and in breach of global norms.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has worsened dramatically, with nearly half a million Palestinians now facing starvation, according to United Nations reports. The flow of aid into the region remains severely restricted, with only a fraction of the recommended 500 daily aid trucks being allowed through.
