Emma Raducanu Advances in Cincinnati Open with Convincing Win

Emma Raducanu continued her impressive form on hard courts as she secured a straight-sets victory over Olga Danilovic at the Cincinnati Open. The British tennis star won 6-3, 6-2 to reach the last 32 of the WTA 1000 event.

Playing under the watchful eye of her new coach, Francis Roig, Raducanu controlled the match from the start. Roig, who previously spent nearly two decades coaching Rafael Nadal, was attending his first tournament with Raducanu since their partnership began less than a week ago.

Raducanu took just one hour and 20 minutes to dispatch the world number 43, breaking Danilovic’s serve five times during the match. Her performance was especially strong on the return, winning an impressive 73 per cent of points behind her opponent’s second serve, outperforming her first serve statistics.

The conditions were testing, with temperatures soaring to 32 degrees Celsius, but Raducanu appeared unfazed as she imposed herself early on by breaking serve in the opening game. The opening stages featured a flurry of breaks, with both players exchanging breaks four times in the first five games before Raducanu gained the upper hand to close out the set.

Danilovic had earlier caused an upset by defeating fellow Briton Katie Boulter in a dominant performance, but against Raducanu, she was unable to replicate that success. After a shaky start to the second set, Danilovic struggled to maintain momentum as Raducanu took full control from 2-2 onwards, winning every game thereafter.

The match ended with a clinical display from Raducanu, including several eye-catching winners that sealed the victory emphatically.

Raducanu’s run in Cincinnati sets up a potential third-round clash with Aryna Sabalenka, adding another exciting chapter to her summer campaign. This season, she has already reached the third round at Wimbledon, the semi-finals of the Citi Open, and the third round of the Canadian Open.

With Roig now by her side, Raducanu will be aiming to build on this strong form as she continues to establish herself among the world’s elite players.
