A violent drive-by shooting that left three men injured at a Huddersfield garage has led to the arrest of four suspects in Manchester, West Yorkshire Police have confirmed.

The suspects, aged 18, 19, 20, and 21, were detained in the Greater Manchester area in connection with the shooting. Two of the individuals, aged 18 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, while the remaining two face firearms-related charges.

The incident occurred on Monday, July 22, at around 3 p.m. outside S Autos Garage on Bulay Road, where shots were fired from a moving vehicle, leaving three male victims in the hospital. All sustained non-life-threatening injuries, with wounds to the foot, knee, arm, and stomach.

Gun Violence

Initial investigations suggest a Nissan Juke, believed to have false registration plates, was driven past the garage shortly before the shooting began. The vehicle, which had turned left from Nelson Street onto Bulay Road before the shots were fired, was then seen fleeing towards Springdale Road and then onto Manchester Road.

The car was later found abandoned outside West Yorkshire. Police have since seized it as evidence in the ongoing inquiry.

The victims include a 30-year-old man who suffered a foot injury, a 36-year-old with a knee wound, and a 20-year-old man who was hit in the arm and stomach. All three were taken to the hospital for treatment and remain under medical care.

West Yorkshire Police are continuing their investigation, following several lines of enquiry as they work to establish a full picture of the events. Detectives have been keen to acknowledge the cooperation of the local community.

Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle, who leads the case, said: “I want to thank residents who have contacted us with information so far. We have had a strong response from communities who we know absolutely don’t want to see exceptionally serious offending near their homes.”

He added: “I also want to reassure residents that we continue to follow a number of lines of enquiry and have recovered the vehicle believed to have been used in the incident. We remain determined to bring to justice those who are responsible. We also want to encourage anyone who can assist us in investigating this very serious offence who has not come forwards as yet, for whatever reason, to please do so.”

The shooting, which took place in broad daylight, has understandably sparked concern among residents, many of whom are deeply unsettled by the presence of gun crime in a residential part of Huddersfield.

A significant police presence has remained in the area since the incident, as officers continue gathering evidence and speaking to witnesses. West Yorkshire Police have appealed to anyone with further information or dashcam footage to come forward, especially those who may have been in the area at the time.

While the motive behind the attack has not been confirmed, the scale and nature of the operation suggest it may be gang-related. Investigators are considering all possibilities and have not ruled out further arrests as part of the case.

The force has also reiterated its commitment to clamping down on armed violence and ensuring that those involved face the consequences of their actions.

Residents with relevant information are urged to contact West Yorkshire Police or share details anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers.

As of now, the four suspects remain in custody as enquiries continue.
