Japan’s Defense Minister Advocates for Enhanced Military Readiness Amid Regional Tensions

In a significant policy shift, Japan’s Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada emphasized the need for increased military readiness on February 7, 2025, amid escalating tensions in East Asia. 

Speaking at a parliamentary session, Hamada outlined Japan’s commitment to strengthening its defense posture in response to growing threats from neighboring nations, particularly North Korea and China.
