Justice Jackson: Trump’s Attacks on Judges Aim to Intimidate the Courts

By Favoredjane

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson has warned that former President Donald Trump’s repeated attacks on judges are not random but appear to be deliberate efforts to intimidate the judiciary and undermine the rule of law.

Speaking at a judicial conference in Puerto Rico, Jackson said the mounting rhetoric from Trump and his allies poses a serious threat to American democracy. “The threats and harassment are attacks on our democracy, on our system of government,” she said. “They ultimately risk undermining our Constitution and the rule of law.”

Tensions between the judiciary and Trump’s team have grown in recent months, with Chief Justice John Roberts also publicly rebuking the former president in March after he called for the impeachment of a federal judge.

Trump and his allies have criticized several court rulings that have blocked key actions of his administration, especially around foreign aid and executive power. While they deny defying court orders, their rhetoric has alarmed many in the legal community.

Justice Jackson’s comments add to growing concern that judicial independence is being eroded by political pressure and public intimidation.
