Former football manager Harry Redknapp’s £5 million property in Sandbanks, Dorset, has been targeted by a gang of masked burglars armed with hammers. The thieves forced entry into the luxury home on the evening of Friday, 25 July, making off with valuable items, including jewellery belonging to Redknapp’s wife, Sandra. Neither of the couple was present during the incident.

The burglary occurred while Redknapp was attending an event and his wife was in London. The criminals reportedly smashed through the front door of the gated property, located in one of Britain’s most affluent seaside areas. According to police, closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage shows the masked individuals ransacking rooms throughout the home.

Dorset Police have confirmed an active investigation is under way. In a statement released on Monday, the force said: “We received a report of a burglary at an address in the Sandbanks area of Poole on the evening of Friday, 25 July. Officers attended the scene and are currently reviewing CCTV footage and conducting house-to-house enquiries.”

A source close to the family told The Sun that the raid appeared to have been carefully pre-planned. “It was clearly organised,” the source claimed. “The raiders must have known the house was empty. The criminals would only have to keep watch on the property and break in once the coast was clear, knowing the full layout of the house in advance.”

Redknapp, 77, and his wife moved into the property in 2021 and have since been preparing to relocate to another home within the same exclusive enclave. Sandbanks, a narrow peninsula on the south coast, continues to rank as the most expensive coastal area in the United Kingdom. According to property website Rightmove, average house prices in the area now exceed £1.1 million, with many luxury homes fetching far more.

Security concerns have previously been raised in high-value areas such as Sandbanks, where empty second homes and long driveways can make properties vulnerable to break-ins. Local residents have called for greater police visibility and improved CCTV coverage to deter professional criminal groups.

The Redknapp burglary adds to a growing list of incidents targeting high-profile individuals across the country, raising questions about home security and the ability of law enforcement to track and prevent such crimes. No arrests have yet been made in connection with the raid.

Dorset Police have urged anyone with information or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area to come forward.

Enquiries are ongoing.
