New Intel Claims 7/7 ‘White Widow’ Samantha Lewthwaite Still Alive and Hiding in East Africa

Samantha Lewthwaite, better known as the “White Widow”, is believed to be still alive, latest bombshell intel reveals.

The British woman, who was married to one of the 7/7 London suicide bombers, fled the U.K. in 2008 and has been wanted ever since for her suspected involvement in multiple terrorist attacks in Africa. A senior source has now claimed that she was living in Uganda as recently as last year, and is currently believed to be based in Somalia.

Lewthwaite, the daughter of a British soldier, converted to Islam as a teenager and went on to marry Germaine Lindsay, one of the four men responsible for the coordinated bombings on London’s transport network on July 7, 2005.

Lindsay alone was responsible for 26 of the 52 deaths caused by the attacks. The atrocity shocked the country and marked one of the darkest days in recent British history.

After the bombings, Lewthwaite gave birth to a daughter and was moved into a safe house when her home in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, became the target of an arson attack.

She had earlier condemned Lindsay’s actions in an interview for The Sun, calling them “abhorrent”. At the time, she insisted she had no knowledge of his plans and presented herself as a shocked widow. She was reportedly paid £30,000 for the interview.

In 2008, Lewthwaite left the UK with her children and flew to Johannesburg, South Africa. It was there she later remarried.

Her second husband, Fami Salim, is said to be a Kenyan national with family ties to terrorist groups al-Qaeda (AQ) and al-Shabaab (AS).. According to intel reports, Lewthwaite is believed to be part of an al-Shabaab cell operating in Somalia.

Over the years, she has been linked to a number of terrorist incidents between 2012 and 2019, which are believed to have resulted in 244 deaths.

Though there have long been rumours that she was killed in a drone strike, these reports were never verified. The latest claim from a senior source suggests she not only survived but was living in neighbouring Uganda as recently as last year before relocating once more.

‘Played dumb’

Former Metropolitan Police anti-terrorism officer David Videcette spoke about Samantha Lewthwaite in the Netflix series World’s Most Wanted, expressing his frustration over being unable to have her arrested.

He recalled that Lewthwaite “played dumb,” claiming she was merely “just the wife.”

Videcette had pushed hard to see her detained, but the senior investigating officer believed there was insufficient evidence to proceed, and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) was expected to decline prosecution. He expressed deep regret that she was given the opportunity to go on and kill others.

The renewed focus on Lewthwaite’s whereabouts comes as the UK marks 20 years since the 7/7 bombings. For many survivors and first responders, the pain of that day still lingers. Now, with fresh claims that the ‘White Widow’ may still be alive, unanswered questions remain, and the search for justice continues.
