Palestine Film Institute Spotlights Palestinian Voices at Cannes Docs 2025

At the 2025 Cannes Docs Showcase, the Palestine Film Institute (PFI) took the opportunity to highlight four documentary projects in progress, showcasing the strength and creativity of Palestinian filmmakers. Held on May 19 at the Marché du Film, the event marked PFI’s seventh consecutive year at the festival, emphasizing their ongoing commitment to elevating Palestinian voices in the global film industry. By offering these filmmakers a platform at such a prestigious event, PFI continues to amplify narratives that are often marginalized or overlooked.

The selected films were chosen by an independent international jury and benefited from tailored mentorship provided by PFI’s industry consultants. In addition, the filmmakers were supported with festival accreditation and travel stipends, ensuring they had the resources necessary to participate in the showcase. This initiative is part of PFI’s broader mission to rebuild and support Palestinian cultural infrastructure, helping filmmakers navigate the complex global cinema landscape and reach wider audiences.

To further support Palestinian filmmakers, PFI launched the 2025 Palestine Film Directory, a bilingual (Arabic/English) online resource aimed at celebrating Palestinian cinema. The directory serves as a vital tool for connecting film initiatives, collectives, and production companies, fostering collaboration within the Palestinian film community and globally. By increasing the visibility of Palestinian filmmakers and their work, PFI hopes to strengthen their presence on the international stage and encourage more collaborative projects in the future.
