Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey aimed at Trump’s handling of international trade, particularly the steel tariff disputes, which have affected British manufacturers. Davey labelled Trump’s approach as a “hokey cokey” policy, a dig at the administration’s erratic imposition and reversal of trade duties that left businesses unsure of long-term strategy.

“Trump has nerve coming over to the UK when he’s spent the last year playing tariff hokey-cokey with the British economy,” Davey told the Sunday Mirror. “But in fairness, he can do less damage on a golf course than in the White House.” He added that British steelworkers are bearing the brunt of Trump’s impulsive trade measures, and the agreement Trump signed with the UK government has yet to bring tangible relief.
