Reform UK Councillor Walks Out, Slams Farage Days After Win

A newly elected Reform UK councillor has dramatically resigned from the party only days after securing a local council seat, delivering a scathing critique of Nigel Farage and the party’s internal culture.

In a public statement, the councillor accused Reform UK of being “more interested in stunts than substance,” and said Farage’s outsized influence was damaging the credibility of the movement. “I joined to make a difference locally, not to feed a personality cult,” the councilor said. The resignation has stunned local supporters and exposed internal rifts in Reform UK just as the party was trying to build on its modest gains in the local elections. While Farage remains a symbolic figure for many in the party, critics argue his brand of politics is overshadowing serious grassroots work.

The councillor is expected to serve as an independent, though future political plans remain unclear. This departure raises questions about unity within Reform UK as it attempts to grow into a stronger force ahead of the general election. While the party has positioned itself as an alternative to both Conservatives and Labour, internal unrest may hinder that momentum. So far, Reform UK has not issued a formal response to the resignation.
