A woman in her 60s was found stabbed to death at her home in Romford on Sunday night, in what authorities believe may be linked to the death of a man in his 20s found on nearby train tracks. The Metropolitan Police Service (Met) has launched a murder investigation, with early indications suggesting the two individuals were known to each other.

Police were alerted around 9:00 p.m. on July 27, 2025, following a report from the British Transport Police (BTP) about concerns for the welfare of a woman at a property in Bushy Close, Romford, East London. Upon arrival, officers discovered the woman had sustained fatal stab wounds. Her identity has not yet been released, but her family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers.

Shortly before the woman’s body was found, a man in his 20s was located dead on train tracks in what is now being treated as a potentially connected case. The cause of his death is under examination, and while no arrests have been made, police believe the incident is isolated and poses no further risk to the public.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, stated, “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family at this difficult time as we investigate the circumstances behind this terrible incident. At this stage, we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public.”

Detective Superintendent Simon Giles, from the Met’s East Area Investigations Team, also commented on the case, noting the impact on the local community. “I understand that the incident is distressing for the community, and we are working closely with our colleagues in the Specialist Crime Command to progress the investigation as quickly as possible. Those in the area today can expect to see our officers, and we encourage anyone with any information to speak with them.”

The Metropolitan Police is urging members of the public who may have relevant details to come forward. Information can be shared by calling 101, reporting online, or contacting the force via their official account on X (formerly Twitter) @METCC, quoting reference CAD6914/27JUL.

The investigation remains ongoing, and updates will follow as authorities continue their inquiries into this tragic and unsettling incident.
