Secret UK Airlift Flies Thousands of Afghan Allies Amid Data Breach

Taliban-linked individuals and other high-risk Afghans may have entered the United Kingdom under a classified evacuation programme, following a catastrophic data breach that exposed tens of thousands of applicants for sanctuary. The covert operation, known as Operation Rubicon, has flown nearly 18,500 people to British soil so far, with many more expected, despite serious concerns over background checks and vetting standards.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) had been transporting Afghan nationals who assisted British forces through the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP). However, after a British military official mistakenly leaked a database containing the personal details of over 100,000 applicants, it emerged that some individuals with links to the Taliban have slipped through the cracks. The alarming breach was first uncovered by The Mail in August 2023.

Taliban Infiltration

Former Taliban fighters are reportedly among those now residing in the UK under the ARAP scheme, as first revealed by The Telegraph. According to senior sources, these individuals exploited the relocation programme by being named as dependents of legitimate applicants or through manipulation by corrupt Afghan officials. One Afghan insider admitted, “We had civilians in our office who had clear ties with the Taliban.”

Another official told reporters that corrupt local authorities were instrumental in helping Taliban affiliates gain entry: “They are not good for Britain. They were fighting against British forces and killed lots of Brits, but now are being fed by Brits in London. They have British blood on their hands.”

Those brought over include sex offenders, individuals with criminal pasts, and even a man previously jailed for selling weapons to the Taliban. He is now confirmed to be living in Britain following the collapse of the Afghan government. Another case involves a British passport holder alleged to have facilitated the entry of Taliban sympathisers.

The MoD has refused to comment directly on individual cases but maintains that vetting involves biographic and document verification processes. A former soldier who worked on the scheme, was reportedly informed that full security checks were not always completed.

The data breach, which amounted to effectively handing over a ‘kill list’ to hostile forces, has already led to tragic outcomes in Afghanistan. The Mail has reportedly viewed a dossier detailing over 300 killings of individuals with links to the UK.

One Afghan evacuee, now living in the UK, said his brother was gunned down because of his connection to British forces: “If or when the Taliban have this list, then killings will increase, and it will be Britain’s fault. There will be many more executions like the one on Monday.”

Parliament was deliberately kept in the dark about the extent of the breach and the airlift’s contents due to a 23-month-old High Court super-injunction that was only recently lifted. Secret hearings even suggested lawmakers had been misled regarding the scope of the operation.

With thousands still awaiting relocation, the scandal raises grave concerns about the integrity of the UK’s refugee and asylum process. While British taxpayers foot the bill for resettlement, including housing in Ministry of Defence properties and hotels, questions remain about the screening and long-term implications of bringing former enemy combatants onto UK soil.
