Things Better Change’: Arizona Voters Voice Concerns After Trump’s First 100 Days

In Tucson, Arizona, the Special Eats Café is taking shape. Inside, kitchen racks are stacked with cookware, the walls are prepped for paint, and fresh gas lines have just been installed. For Tamara Varga, this isn’t just another restaurant, it’s a mission.

The café, part of Varga’s growing food business, is staffed by people with autism, Down syndrome, and other special needs. Already employing 50 workers, Varga hopes to grow even more, offering job training and purpose to a community often overlooked.

“This is what I’m supposed to be doing,” she said. “It blesses me, and it fulfills my life.”

A devout Christian and lifelong Republican, Varga supported Donald Trump through both campaigns. But now, 100 days into Trump’s return to the White House, she is like many in Arizona and is starting to have doubts.

In interviews with voters across the state, even supporters like Varga voiced growing concerns:

  • Prices are still too high, despite Trump’s promises to ease inflation.
  • Trade tensions, especially tariffs, are creating instability for Arizona businesses.
  • While illegal border crossings are down, legal crossings have dropped too, hurting small businesses near the border that rely on cross-border customers.

And some worry that Trump’s aggressive approach to change may do more harm than good.

“I still support him,” Varga said. “But I’m worried about Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. He said he wouldn’t cut them, just trim the waste. I hope he sticks to that.”

Arizona is a key swing state, and early feedback from voters like Varga may warn Trump and Republican leaders: patience is running thin and promises must soon turn into progress.
