British activist Tommy Robinson, whose legal name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon and who founded the English Defence League (EDL), left the United Kingdom just hours after being filmed near an unconscious and injured man at St Pancras Station in London. British Transport Police (BTP) have confirmed they are investigating the incident and intend to bring Robinson in for questioning.

The incident took place on the evening of 28 July. A widely circulated video clip captured Robinson at the scene, appearing agitated, claiming to a bystander, “You saw him, he came at me,” as emergency responders treated a man lying motionless at the base of a staircase. The man reportedly sustained serious injuries, though authorities have said these are not believed to be life-threatening.

In a statement released by BTP, authorities confirmed that Robinson, aged 42 and from Bedfordshire, boarded a flight out of the country in the early hours of July 29. “Following a report of an assault at St Pancras station last night (28 July), officers have confirmed that the suspect… boarded a flight out of the country in the early hours of this morning,” BTP said. “Detectives are continuing to work closely to progress the investigation and bring him into custody for questioning.”

Eyewitnesses reported seeing multiple police vehicles outside the station, while paramedics tended to the injured man. One witness, speaking to LBC, described the scene: “I saw an unconscious man being worked on by paramedics. They erected curtains around him. They were trying to resuscitate him, and there was what looked like a blood transfusion bag.”

Photos from the aftermath show forensic officers collecting samples from the stair railings and visible bloodstains at the scene. British Transport Police were called just after 8:40 p.m. and confirmed that officers arrived promptly, and the injured man was transported to the hospital.

Earlier that day, Robinson posted a video on social media encouraging supporters to attend a protest while handing out flyers at the station. The video, titled “Spreading the word,” shows him speaking to someone off-camera, urging them to bring friends to what he described as a massive event.

Authorities have not yet provided details about what led to the altercation, but noted that an argument had reportedly occurred at the station. The investigation remains active, and BTP is urging the public to come forward with any relevant information. Witnesses are encouraged to text 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 655 of July 28.

As the investigation unfolds, attention is now focused on locating Robinson abroad and determining the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
