Two Dead Following Stabbing at Business Premises in Central London

Two men have died and two others remain in hospital after a stabbing incident at a business premises in Southwark, central London. Authorities were called to Long Lane shortly after 1pm on Monday, where multiple individuals were found with stab wounds. Police have confirmed that a 58-year-old man died at the scene, while a 27-year-old man later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

According to the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), two other men in their thirties were also injured. One remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the other, who has been detained in connection with the incident, is currently in a critical condition.

Detective Chief Superintendent Emma Bond of the MPS stated, “Our investigation is in the early stages and we are working hard to understand the full circumstances of this shocking incident. At this point, we do not believe it to be terrorism-related, and there is no further risk to the public.”

The incident has stunned residents in the area, known for its high-value residential developments. A local man, who asked not to be named, remarked: “The apartments here are really expensive, you wouldn’t expect something like this to happen around here.”

Councillor Natasha Ennin, Southwark Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Neighbourhoods, expressed her sorrow following the news: “I’m horrified and deeply saddened by the deaths of two men in our borough today. My heartfelt condolences go to their families and friends.”

The investigation remains ongoing, with officers continuing to gather evidence and appeal for witnesses. While the motive behind the attack is yet to be confirmed, police have assured the public that there is no continuing threat.
